It supports limiting protected software by date and time, locking it to specific hardware, encrypting code with a serial number, limiting the period of free updates, and many other features. The system is based on asymmetric cryptographic algorithms to minimize the chances of creating an unauthorized serial number generator. To protect the licensing system itself, VMProtect uses virtualization, thereby reducing the risk of the application being cracked or patched at the code level.
