How protect correctly kernel drivers?

Hello,
someone can help about what's are the correct setting to protect .sys files? I tried with and without any protection setting, but my driver failed to start after this procedure. I'm using the latest version (3.5.0 Ultimate) and my kernel driver was compiled to x64. To start driver my reference is this code.
